First of all, the development of the Database on Revitalization Practices pursues scientific goals: the research of the revitalization process is carried out based on the dataset, a classification of existing revitalization practices is compiled, and methods for their implementation are studied. In 2021, the first version of the classification (Russian and foreign practices) was compiled, in 2022, based on this classication, the principles for assessing the effectiveness of practices were developed, and in 2023, a statistical analysis of the data was carried out(material is being prepared for publication).
In addition, the Database on Revitalization Practices is planned to function as an educational resource about language revitalization, on with more detailed description and classification of existing revitalization practices and methods of their implementation planned for publication. This part of the website is currently under development and will become fully operational by the end of 2024. Also, from June 2024, a search for records about revitalization practices in the user database will be available for public.
The Database on Revitalization Practices is being developed by a group of researchers at the Research Center for the Preservation, Revitalization and Documentation of the Languages of Russia, Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
In 2024, the group involved in the study of language revitalization based on Database data includes T. Kornev, A. Evstigneeva, E. Budyanskaya and M.-E. Winkler.. In 2021–2022 O. Pavlova and A. Fedorinchik also took part in the research activities and development of the database structure.
The web interface of the revitalization practices database is developed and maintained by K. Polivanov.
